Official Visits
Our Official Visits between Newick and Itteville are the most important
events of the year, because they give us a chance to meet our opposite
numbers. This is, of course, what Twinning is all about. There is so much
difference between visiting France as a holidaymaker, as compared with
staying with a French family. Even if you don't speak French, it's always
possible to communicate, and afterwards you may be inspired to brush up your
language skills.

The same applies when our French friends visit Newick. It may seem
daunting at first to put up a French family, which in some cases may be
people you have never met before, quite apart from any language problem. But
if you haven't done it before, you may be surprised at the tremendous amount
of goodwill that exists, even if people are confused by the strange customs
of their opposite numbers. The main thing is to enjoy yourself, don't try to
be too formal, and keep your sense of humour intact!
