Official Visit to Itteville May 2011
Whilst the Bank Holiday in the UK was not good this year, in Itteville
the sun shone and provided us lovely weather for the weekend with our host
families. On Saturday morning, a joint committee meeting was held to review
the projects that we are working on. The Ittevillois are very keen to extend
the link already established between our Primary School in Newick and the
Jacques Prévert School in Itteville, so that it continues when the children
move on to Chailey Secondary, which is a Centre of Excellence for
Languages. Arrangements were also discussed for our special twentieth
anniversary next year. We spent the rest of the morning at a reception at
Jacques Prévert School and saw displays of work the children had completed
after their recent visit to Newick in April – this project between the
schools is now known as “Ittwick”. On Sunday we visited Domaine de Saint
Jean de Beauregard which had a fascinating pigeon house and beautiful
gardens. We had lunch at Gif sur Yvette Country Club, and then visited an
art exhibition at Chamarande. On Monday, we arrived back in Newick, after
a short stop for shopping in Auchan, early evening. We felt as though we
had been away for much longer, but everyone agreed it had been a super
weekend. Here is a selection of photos from the weekend.
